DIRECT INPUT: Natalie McCool (ONLINE)15/09/22 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
Join us online as we discuss the benefits and importance of collaboration in songwriting and the different tools and techniques we can utilise to make the most of opportunities we have with other creatives. Collaborations form when we work with producers, mixers, musicians and also other songwriters. The purposes and outcomes can differ, this conversation will explore the many uses of co-writes along with the skills needed when writing to a brief for publishers, sync briefs and other opportunities that may come our way. Natalie will also be sharing her experiences of songwriting camps. Songwriting camps are sessions set up by publishers and other songwriting organisations to promote collaboration and to create new and interesting compositions that combine multiple voices, experiences, skills and inspiration.
Natalie McCool is an independent singer-songwriter originally from Widnes. In 2021 she self-released her third album Memory Girl. Natalie has been awarded Arts Council funding to develop her creative practice and has spent part of 2022 in London working with a whole host of producers, mixers and songwriters. No stranger to writing camps, Natalie has travelled around the globe attending different camps hosted by world renowned organisations. This year, Natalie was selected to attend an online writing camp hosted by German showcase festival Reeperbahn, giving her the chance to collaborate with songwriters from all over Europe. Natalie recently wrote and produced an EP called ‘Masterfader’ in collaboration with KPM Music (formerly EMI Production Music) to showcase her production and composition skills to TV, ads and games.
