OPEN MIC /// IN COLLABORATION WITH BBC RADIO 1 BIG WEEKEND

8/04/25 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

April’s edition of Open Mic will take place in Future Yard’s Live Room on Tuesday 8th. Hosted by Katie Mac, our open mic is a great opportunity to showcase your new material in front of a supportive crowd of songwriters and music fans. Dave Monks from BBC Introducing will also be in attendance and the BBC will be providing the opportunity for you to get your stripped back performances played on the radio, but only with your permission.

We ask that everyone who would like to perform to please fill out the BBC’s expression of interest form, so they’ve got your contact details. Please note, we anticipate high demand for a performance slot for this edition of Open Mic and filling out the form does not guarantee your slot. You’ll still need to book in with Katie when you arrive – expression of interest

The kitchen will be open from around 6.30pm, view the menu here.

KEY INFO:

  • Our open is for singer/songwriters and is not appropriate for band setups. There is a limit of two performers per slot.
  • There will be two vocal mics and inputs for up to 2 instruments. If you have any special requests that you wish to be accommodated, please email openmic@futureyard.org and we can advise if we can do it.
  • All performers are invited to play no more than 2 songs, preferably with at least one original song. If demand is high, then we will likely limit to 1 song each.
  • Performers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • All skill levels of performers are welcome.
  • When the live room hasn’t got a gig in it, Open Mic will take place in there and will be announced as such. When there’s a gig on, it will be hosted in the yellow room. When we are using the live room, the same rules of two performers per slot apply.

If you are looking for opportunities to showcase a longer set or to perform as a bigger group, please email iwanttoplay@futureyard.org to enquire about available slots.
