MEET THE PRESS
A panel of incredibly talented creative professionals who are renowned for spotlighting and celebrating new music. This conversation will explore the opportunities that artists and bands without representation have to promote their music. We will look at platforms and outlets that are available to us and the steps that we need to take to put our best foot forward towards meaningful coverage.

Our guest speakers:

TILLY FOULKES
Tilly Foulkes is a Welsh writer, poet, and freelance journalist based in Liverpool. Mostly they write about DIY alt-rock and the importance of community spaces in keeping the local scene thriving. They have previously written for NME, DIY Magazine, Clash and STAT Mag, among others.

ROBIN MURRAY
Robin Murray is a London-based editor and music journalist. Scottish by birth, he joined CLASH as an intern in 2007, at first handling online news before diversifying within the company. Over the years he’s handled everything from cover profiles to breaking news, even occasionally DJing and hosting CLASH events. Becoming Editor-in-Chief in 2020, he guided the title through the pandemic, with recent cover stars including JADE, Olivia Rodrigo, bring me the horizon, King Krule, and Victoria Monet. His first book Listen To This If You Love Great Music was published in 2021, and he DJs northern soul on vinyl around London. 

EMILY PILBEAM
Emily Pilbeam presents the BBC Introducing Mixtape on 6 Music and co-hosts the BBC Introducing Leeds and Sheffield show. Having worked for BBC Introducing for almost a decade, Emily has continued to support artists from the ground up and is passionate about supporting the grass-roots music industry. Alongside her presenting work for BBC Introducing, Emily has covered for Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Amy Lame and Chris Hawkins on 6 Music, as well as covering on Radio 1 too. Emily is also a DJ and works with independent London based promotions company and label Bad Vibrations. 

LAVIEA THOMAS
Laviea Thomas is an experienced freelance music and culture journalist and creative copywriter based in north London. With a knack for writing, Laviea’s journalism can be seen across print and digital publications with words across The Needle Drop, Louder, Guitar, NME, The Quietus, and plenty more.
