FAST TRACK: DEMO CREATION CHALLENGE

Each month on a Thursday afternoon, we will be challenging two of you to individually write, record, and produce a simple demo in two hours. The goal is not perfection, but rather to focus on making quick decisions. This activity is about overcoming perfectionism, trusting your instincts, and carving out time to be creative without overthinking.

Kicking off at 1.30pm with a 20-minute introduction with mentor Katie Mac, you’ll then head down to a rehearsal studio to write and record a demo, based on a provided brief.

You have two hours to complete your demo, which can be as simple as a verse and chorus with basic instrumentation. The genre and style are completely up to you. The goal is to get your idea out of your head and into the world. You can make changes or further develop your ideas once you’re finished.

Once the two hours are up, we’ll give you a break before we reconvene and finish the session with a short demo listening session.

If you’d like to bring a collaborator with you, that’s absolutely fine. Please register for one space rather than multiple.

• Leave with a new song idea/demo
• Become more comfortable under time constraints
• Trust your instincts – you are encouraged to make choices because it feels right/fun, rather than overthinking your actions

• Make progress on creative projects rather than striving for perfection straight away
